The Mersea Oyster Dedging Match 2005

To celebrate the opening of the Native Oyster Season at West Mersea, a fleet of Smacks, Bawleys & Bumpkins will dredge under sail

Sunday 11th September 2005 11 hrs - 1300 hrs

OFF SEAVIEW AVENUE, WEST MERSEA

The first dredge by Terry Sutton, Mayor of Colchester and Alan Mogridge, Mayor of West Mersea

Judging by Jeremy Lee of Blueprint Café, Bulters Wharf, London SE1

The 'Viking Saga' will be available for viewing the smacks dredging and will depart from the Causeway at 0930, returning to the Packing Shed for the Prize-giving.

The 'Pioneer' will also be on view, dredging under sail in the river and later in Mersea Quarters when the 'Viking Saga' will come alongside.

Tickets for the 'Viking Saga' are £10 (including usual launch Service from the Causeway) and can be bought on the day or in advance from Richard Haward Tel: 01206 383284.
